We are just two days into March and the Maxx Crosby trade rumors are already driving me mad.
The latest comes from SI.com’s Albert Breer, who believes a Crosby trade could happen as soon as this week.
“I’d lean toward a Maxx Crosby trade happening, and maybe this week,” Breer writes in his latest post at The MMQB. “But there’s going to have to be some needle-threading. I don’t think the Raiders want to go through the song-and-dance of shopping him, nor do I believe Crosby wants it advertised that he’s looking for suitors, given his bond with owner Mark Davis, and his view of himself as a Raider.”

— Albert Breer (@AlbertBreer) March 2, 2026In addition to suggesting that a Maxx Crosby trade *COULD* be on the horizon, Breer also shares which teams are “keeping tabs” on the situation. That group includes the Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys, Los Angeles Rams, New England Patriots, Philadelphia Eagles, and the Chicago Bears. In other words, it seems like there is a market of interested teams who have an eye on the situation. Given Crosby’s résumé (five Pro Bowls, 69.5 sacks, 164 quarterback hits, 133 tackles-for-loss) from his first 110 games over the last seven seasons, this is unsurprising.

Also unsurprising is the Bears’ reported interest. This team needs pass rush help in the worst way. But it also needs a defender who can hold it down against the run. Maxx Crosby checks both boxes. However, Chicago’s involvement in a potential bidding war for the star defensive lineman remains to be determined. With as many needs as the team has on defense, this front office might not want to go all-in on a Crosby trade. Then again, we’ve seen this group pull of some surprise moves in the past. Hence, I’m in a wait-and-see approach when it comes to this new batch of Crosby rumors.
Maxx Crosby Trade Rumors: Bears Listed Among Interested Teams
The Maxx Crosby trade chatter has my mind split in two. In one corner, there is the idea that Crosby is a perfect fit for the Bears. He is a certified game-wrecker on the defensive side of the ball who plays a position the team needs to upgrade this offseason. Crosby’s pass-rushing prowess is undeniable, but he is also respectable when defending the run. Considering Chicago’s issues slowing opposing ground games, finding a defensive lineman who can get to the quarterback while not being a liability against the run should be a high priority for the Bears front office this offseason.

However, in the other corner, are questions about how Chicago could fit Maxx Crosby into a tight cap sittuation and acquire him while not mortgaging the future. It is a delicate balance and a tough needle to thread, but it is something the Bears are clearly kicking around. Otherwise, the team wouldn’t continually come up whenever Crosby trade conversations make their way to NFL news-breakers. We will continue to monitor this situation with great interest for obvious reasons.

A question I keep asking myself: Is this team in a great position to add a player who has a cap number north of $35 million in 2026 (and probably needs a high-priced extension if he is dealt) while parting ways with valuable draft capital? It makes for a fun debate, especially since both sides can make valid points in an argument. The player fit is obvious. But navigating the cap gymnastics (while holding off at least six other terams with reported interest) to make it happen could make it challenging. However, the juice could be worth the squeeze for a team desperate to add to its pass rush in 2026.
