For a long time following the release of No Time To Die, the future of the James Bond franchise appeared to be in limbo. Reports of a new film, and indeed a new era for the series, were rampant, but nothing concrete emerged.
Now, following the news that Amazon MGM Studios has taken over creative control of the franchise, things are finally moving on at pace. In fact, just last week it was reported that the currently untitled 26th film in the franchise will begin filming at the end of this year.
While a new lead for the film has yet to be confirmed, we do know that it will be directed by Denis Villeneuve, written by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, and produced by Amy Pascal and David Heyman.
Given that this news continues to rumble on, and it feels like we can't be far off from a new star being announced (whether it's one of the current frontrunners, Jacob Elordi and Callum Turner, or not), we thought now would be the perfect time to settle once and for all - what is the best film in the iconic franchise?
There have, so far, been 25 films in the 'official' franchise based on Ian Fleming's novels, and these are the ones we'll be choosing from - 1967's Casino Royale and 1983's Never Say Never Again will not be included.
So, which is the best? Is it the classic Sean Connery flick Goldfinger, that introduced us to iconic villains like Oddjob? Or perhaps, Roger Moore's Man with the Golden Gun, which featured a celebrated turn from Christopher Lee. Maybe you prefer the more recent instalments such as Casino Royale or Skyfall?

View Riddle on the source websiteLast year, we ran a poll to find out the best ever Bond theme, with Live and Let Die, written by Paul and Linda McCartney and recorded by their band Wings for the 1973 film of the same name, emerging victorious.
It beat out Carly Simon's Nobody Does It Better in the final, while those songs that made it through to the Semi-Final stage included Shirley Bassey's Diamonds Are Forever, Nancy Sinatra's You Only Live Twice, Adele's Skyfall, and Duran Duran's A View to a Kill.
Even though fans will still have to wait a while until Bond returns to the big screen, they will be able to listen to some brand new adventures, in a Big Finish Productions audio drama range, Young Bond.
The new series of full-cast audio dramas, exploring the teenage years of James Bond, will launch in September 2026, beginning with an adaptation of SilverFin, the first novel in the Young Bond book series.
James Bond 26 will be released in cinemas.
