Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal President and Leader of Opposition in the Odisha Assembly Naveen Patnaik on Monday expressed deep concern over the escalating conflict in the Middle East that has left several people from Odisha stranded.
Naveen stated that migrant workers, professionals, students, and tourists from the state are facing grave uncertainty due to the disruption of air connectivity in the conflict-hit region. He emphasized that their safety and well-being are at serious risk as tensions continue to rise.
Taking to social media platform X, the BJD President said that the escalating conflict in the Middle East has left many people from Odisha including migrant workers, professionals, students, tourists stranded. With disruption of air connectivity many people are facing grave uncertainty. Their safety and well-being are at risk, and they look to the nation for urgent support, he added.
In his post, he urged the Union Government to act swiftly. He specifically appealed to External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to take immediate steps to ensure their safe evacuation.
“Request the Government of India (@DrSJaishankar) to take immediate steps to ensure the safe evacuation and return of all Odias caught in this crossfire. Swift action will not only protect lives but also reassure countless families back home who are anxiously awaiting to hear about the wellbeing of their loved ones”, he added.
The appeal comes amid growing concerns among families in Odisha who are anxiously waiting for updates about their relatives stranded in the conflict zone.
