Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham is pulling back the curtain on teammate Caitlin Clark’s off-the-court personality, describing her as a “normal human” and a “big ole dork.”
“First of all, I think she is such a normal human,” Cunningham said on the Wednesday, February 25, episode of the “Like a Farmer” Podcast. “She truly is. Like, she loves ball, you know what I mean? But my favorite story? I don’t even know if I have a favorite story, but she’s a big ole dork. I think it’s just an overall, like, you kind of go in and you don’t know what to expect. She’s a generational player; she has all this tension and carries it all so well, especially being her age.”
She continued, “And I promise you, she’s the biggest dork you will ever meet. So I just love her. Like, love her whole vibe. There’s not one whole story that kind of sticks out.”
Cunningham, 29, went on to describe some of the chatter amongst WNBA stars as “inappropriate,” adding that she “can’t repeat a lot of things that are said.”

“I think one thing that people don’t understand is the WNBA is so inappropriate,” Cunningham said. “Like, we are just, tight-knit. But we have had people who work for the NBA and go to the WNBA. And NBA guys, in what they do, and what they talk about, doesn’t even come close to… like, we’re wild. We say some crazy, crazy stuff. We’re just a fun time in the W. I don’t know.”
Cunningham has previously described herself as the Sabrina Carpenter to Clark’s Taylor Swift, acknowledging that Clark has helped her and the WNBA as a whole, similarly to how the two pop singers have navigated and elevated the music industry..
“I think that Taylor Swift has helped Sabrina Carpenter so much,” Cunningham told Us Weekly in 2025 when she joined the Fever. “And I think that Caitlin Clark has helped not only her teammates, but our whole league, our whole sport in general, not only here in America, but around the world.”

I’m all about being my best self. And I just feel like that if we can do that together, then great things are gonna happen.”
“I’m gonna let her be the star that she is, and she totally deserves it,” Cunningham said of Clark. “If she needs me in the corner when I have a wide open three, then I’ll be there to support her.”
The WNBA and WNBPA (the organization representing the players) are currently in the middle of negotiations on a collective bargaining agreement, with a potential lockout looming if the two sides cannot mutually agree to the terms by March 10.

If there is a lockout, Cunningham — a self-described reality TV fan — claimed she might try to secure a cameo on the Bravo show “Summer House.”
“If we don’t have a season, I’m coming up there for a weekend,” Cunningham said on her “Show Me Something” podcast, which she hosts with Bravo’s West Wilson.
“Oh yeah, people would lose their minds,” Wilson said.
“I would lose my mind,” she responded.
