ROCHESTER, N.Y. — People’s Choice Kitchen celebrated its 25th anniversary by giving out free meals to longtime customers on Sunday.
Owner Evangela Stanley has been praised for her commitment to the community. She regularly holds events to help those in need, including food and toy giveaways around the holidays and raising money for survivors of domestic violence.
Several local political and nonprofit leaders attended the anniversary celebration to congratulate Stanley.
“My customers, they are my extended family. So when a mom comes in or a dad or a kid and they’re short on money, it’s like a family. It doesn’t matter how much money they have. I’m going to make sure they eat. It’s pay what you can afford here. So it doesn’t matter that the bottom line is. I want to make sure everyone has a decent, great meal,” she said.
Stanley emphasized that her priority is ensuring everyone has a decent, great meal.
Stanley is currently collecting bikes to give away to kids for Easter.
