A total of six people were taken to Chicago-area hospitals after a high-speed crash involving three different vehicles in Roscoe Village Sunday.
According to Chicago police, a 21-year-old man was driving a Honda sedan at a high rate of speed on West Addison when he drove through a red light.
The sedan collided with a Toyota SUV, sending that vehicle flipping over and into a light pole. The Honda then hit a Toyota sedan and came to a stop, police said.
The driver of the Honda was rushed to an area hospital, where he was listed in critical condition after suffering severe injuries to his head.
Two passengers in that vehicle were also hospitalized in critical condition with multiple injuries.
The driver of the Toyota SUV, who was sitting in the southbound lanes of Western Avenue at the time of the crash, was taken to an area hospital with head lacerations and chest bruises. He was listed in fair condition.
His passenger was also hospitalized with head lacerations, police said.
The driver of the Toyota sedan, who was in the northbound lanes of Western Avenue, was sent to an area hospital for medical evaluations.
Charges are pending in the case, and police are continuing to investigate.
