On Saturday, the ASU men picked up their 2nd straight Big 12 Title and their 4th straight conference title (they won the last two Pac-12 Championships), though this title was a little different than last year.

After dominating the conference last year and winning most of the individual events, the Sun Devils showed off their exceptional depth this year, putting at least four swimmers in the ‘A’ final in the 50 free (7), 100 free (6), 200 free (4), 100 breast (5), and 100 fly (5). There was not a single swimming event all weekend that didn’t see at least one ASU swimmer in the ‘A’ final.

They had a few more losses this year with Utah winning the 500 free, 1650 free, and 200 IM, and BYU picking up the 400 IM win. They still came out on top of the meet by more than 300 points, scoring 1898.5 to Arizona’s 1552.5.

After losing some serious star power following the 2025 meet, they got a large transfer class that saw exceptional improvement in their individual events and boosted the program, like Remi Fabiani and Adam Chaney.

    ASU Individual Event Wins:

    50 Free: Ilya Kharun – 18.46 100 Free: Remi Fabiani — 40.67 200 Free: Remi Fabiani — 1:31.24 100 Back: Adam Chaney — 44.13 200 Back: Adam Chaney — 1:38.33 100 Breast: Andy Dobrzanski — 51.32 200 Breast: Andy Dobrzanski — 1:51.92 100 Fly: Ilya Kharun — 43.77 200 Fly: Ilya Kharun — 1:37.70

The highlight of the ASU meet was the new NCAA record time they set in the final event, the 400 freestyle relay. After just missing the record in the 200 freestyle relay, coming in 0.18 seconds off, the Sun Devil men had a massive performance in the 400 free relay, swimming 2:42.15 to take 15-hundredths off the 2:42.30 mark set by Tennessee last year.

The Sun Devils are in good shape to continue their dominance next year with top point scorer and individual male swimmer of the meet Ilya Kharun returning for his final season in Tempe for 2027.

Sophomore Lucien Vergnes was the 4th highest point scorer, bringing in 81 points in the breaststroke events and the 200 IM.
