Bindi Irwin and her husband are celebrating a major step forward for their family, as Chandler Powell is "officially an Aussie" after nearly six years of marriage.
The American-born shared the exciting news over the weekend, sharing photos of himself receiving his certificate of citizenship, which took place in the Australia Zoo's Crocoseum, on Instagram. It was a very convenient choice of venue because, naturally, he chose to celebrate the "huge honor" by immediately getting back to work and feeding one of the crocodiles.
"Thank you to everyone who made it possible," he wrote alongside the photo. "It felt fitting that the first thing I got to do as an Australian was feed a crocodile?."

"Words can’t describe how much this means to [us]," she wrote. "Our daughter was running around telling everyone, 'Dada is Australian like ME!!!' My. Heart. We are so grateful to everyone who helped make this day happen."

The newer generation of conservationists met in 2013, when the Florida native, now 29, was visiting the country for a professional wakeboarding competition. Bindi, now 27, served as his group's tour guide during a visit to Australia Zoo, and they quickly hit it off, keeping in touch online before going "Instagram Official" a couple of years later.
Powell officially moved to Australia in 2018, proposing to Bindi on her 21st birthday the following year. They were married on March 25, 2020, and welcomed Grace exactly one year later.
Like Mother, Like Son-in-Law
Their sweet story mirrors her parents' as Terri Irwin, who is also American-born, first met the Crocodile Hunter during a 1991 visit to Australia Zoo (which, at the time, was known as the Queensland Reptile and Fauna Park), where she saw Steve Irwin doing a crocodile demonstration. Less than a year later, they were married. Terri didn't become an Australian citizen until nearly three years after Steve was killed in a tragic wildlife accident, accepting her citizenship at the Crocoseum on Steve Irwin Day 2009. Many fans have called them the "definition of true love," and now, their eldest is following in their footsteps.
