The 6-foot-2, 208-pound quarterback said he would “love to be a Cardinal” after a formal meeting with the team this week.
In 15 games played last year, Simpson completed 64.5% of his passes for 3,567 yards and 28 touchdowns to five interceptions. He ran for another 93 yards and two scores on 90 carries.
The Pittsburgh Steelers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New York Jets have also met with Simpson.
Sawyer Robertson, Baylor quarterback
Robertson has been busy with plenty of informal interviews this week with the Cardinals, Jets, Tennessee Titans, Cincinnati Bengals, Minnesota Vikings and Carolina Panthers.
In his third and final season at Baylor, the 6-foot-3, 221-pound QB led the Big 12 in passing yards (3,681) and touchdowns (31) and completed 60.3% of his throws. He added 17 yards and three scores on 56 carries.
Arvell Reese, Ohio State edge rusher
The 6-foot-4, 241-pound Ohio State product formally met with the Cardinals early on this week.
Reese, who has the versatility to play inside linebacker and edge rusher, produced 6.5 sacks and 10 tackles for loss for the Buckeyes last season.

Rueben Bain Jr., Miami edge rusher
The 6-foot-2, 263-pounder also sat down for a formal meeting with the Cardinals.
The New Orleans Saints and Titans were two other teams Bain confirmed he met with.
He’s coming off 9.5 sacks and 15.5 tackles for loss in 16 games played during Miami’s run to the national championship game.
The big question for Bain is how his arm length (just under 31 inches) will transfer to the next level.
David Bailey, Texas Tech edge rusher
The 6-foot-4, 251-pound edge rusher said he formally met with the Cardinals.
The Kansas City Chiefs, Bengals, Jets and Titans also sat down with the Texas Tech edge rusher.
He paced the FBS in sacks (14.5) and led the Big 12 in tackles for loss (19.5) last year.
Bailey got after it during the 40-yard dash, posting the second-fastest time (4.50 seconds) among edge rushers behind only Reese. He was third at his position in the broad jump (10 feet, nine inches).
Josiah Trotter, Missouri linebacker
Trotter said he formally met with the Cardinals and 17 other teams earlier this week.
In his lone season at Missouri, Trotter recorded 84 tackles (13 for loss) and two sacks in 12 games played.
The 6-foot-2, 237-pounder is the son of former Eagles LB Jeremiah Trotter and brother of current Philadelphia linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
Travis Burke, Memphis offensive tackle
Burke had formal interviews scheduled with the Cardinals, Los Angeles Chargers, Jacksonville Jaguars and Indianapolis Colts, according to SI.com’s Justin Melo.
The 6-foot-9, 315-pound offensive tackle is coming off 11 games played for Memphis last year.
