Costco Shoppers Are Racing to Stores for This Limited-Time Ice Cream Flavor—But Theres a Catch

When you're a coffee lover, you're often on board with anything in the coffee family. You recognize that Robusta beans have more caffeine, but you still love the taste of Arabica coffee for its smoother, sweeter flavor. You love affogatos -- a "dessert" of espresso poured over ice cream. And, you know that a Vietnamese coffee, which consists of iced coffee served over condensed milk, is delicious.

Imagine our happy surprise when we discovered that Costco is carrying our dream flavor: Mavens' Vietnamese Coffee Ice Cream, for $15.99 for two pints. Costco Bay Area Finds posted the news on their Instagram, and fans couldn't contain their joy.

"OMG I love this brand," commented one person. "Need to runnnnn."

"Dang it," wrote another. "I just went there today might have to go back for this."

Mavens Creamery also jumped in the comments to alert everyone that the flavor, made with Robusta coffee and condensed milk, is only available for a limited time. They also had some sad news for the unfortunate souls who don't live in San Francisco.

"At this moment this flavor is only available at select Bay Area Costcos."

She also asked disappointed coffee and ice cream lovers to request "Item No. 2004289 at your local Costco's membership desk in person, by phone, or on the app."

"These requests really help Costco know where there is demand," they added.

Mavens Creamery was founded in 2014 by sisters Gwen and Christine Nguyen. After realizing there weren't many options for Asian-inspired ice cream flavors like Ube, Lychee, or Black Sesame, they set out to create Mavens. Thanks to Google and YouTube, they figured out how to make their first item: macaron ice cream sandwiches.

In 2019, they appeared on Shark Tank, hoping to secure an investment of $400,000 in exchange for 10% equity. They eventually agreed to a deal with Barbara Corcoran for $400,000 in exchange for 25% equity in their company. The sisters told Tasting Table that the deal fell through.

While Vietnamese Coffee sounds pretty fantastic, the company has many other equally bold and exciting flavors, such as Durian, Pandan Coconut, Avocado, and Thai Tea. They're available in either value packs containing two pints or single pints.
