Beloved Country Artist ‘Barely Alive’ Following Severe Car Crash: ‘It’s a Tragedy’

A country music artist is fighting for his life in the ICU after his car was struck on the interstate in New Mexico earlier this week.

On Feb. 24, rising artist Jeremy Graham of Oklahoma was driving with his dog in tow when his vehicle was hit by a semi-truck, causing it to slam into another semi, according to a post shared by his daughter, Destiny, on his official Facebook page.

Graham’s daughter has set up a GoFundMe campaign to help alleviate some of the mounting medical bills. On the page, she shared more details about the horrific crash and Graham’s condition. The page reveals the singer/songwriter had to be “cut out” of his vehicle following the accident. He was then life-flighted to a nearby trauma center in Texas, where he is currently receiving treatment.

Though the full extent of his injuries remains unclear, it has been confirmed that Graham has suffered “a broken back, broken neck, and broken ribs.” He is lucky to be alive, but he faces a long road to recovery, including relearning how to walk and undergoing additional medical tests.

His Dog Was Killed in the Accident

On Wednesday, Feb. 25, Graham took to Facebook, showing himself for the first time since the traumatic incident. He appeared to be in a hospital bed and visibly emotional as he spoke personally to his family, friends, and fans, updating them on his condition and on what had happened. In his post, he also revealed his dog, who had been in the car with him, had died.

“Hey folks. Here I sit,” Graham begins in his emotional video. “I’m barely alive here. Thank you, guys. I’m still discombobulated.”

“My daughter said that people are helping out with some things,” he added before sharing that he has “a broken back, broken ribs, broken heart, dog died that was in the car with me. It’s a tragedy. Thank you, guys, for the support, and I hope to see you guys soon.”

He Is Currently Unable to Perform

Graham, who is unable to perform any of his upcoming shows, added that he is “not too worried about music stuff right now at all. I just got to get better. Just giving you guys an update. Later. Love you.”

The crash is even more heartbreaking as Graham’s wife, Amy, recently finished cancer treatment, according to the GoFundMe page that has so far raised over $50,000. The page states that Graham “has worked his tail off as a musician to carry them through her journey and chase his dreams at the same time. Now, he will need the love and support of others to carry him through. Please donate if you can, or share if you can't donate. Please continue to pray for him.”
