A political campaign comes at a challenging time for Schlossberg, whose sister, Tatiana Schlossberg, died on Dec. 30 after a battle with acute myeloid leukemia. A respected environmental journalist, her death came just one month after she publicly shared her diagnosis in a widely-read New Yorker essay.
Less than a week after her passing, Jack honored his sister on Instagram with a quote from her 2002 book, Inconspicuous Consumption: The Environmental Impact You Don't Know You Have. There were several other prominent quotes in the slides, including pieces from Herman Melville and Abraham Lincoln. In an Instagram Story, Schlossberg said his family was never consulted about the series, and he feels it's a violation of their privacy, PEOPLE reported.
"I hope those making these shows about him take seriously what he stood for in his life, all that he achieved in it. And that they donate some of the profits [that] they're making," Schlossberg shared. "For the record, I think admiration for my Uncle John is great. What I don't think is great is profiting off of it in a grotesque way."
