Fans of The Cranberries entered into a heated debate on social media this week after the band reposted a cover of their hit song "Zombie" performed by Miley Cyrus.
Cyrus, who performed the song at Hollywood's Whisky A Go-Go in 2020, included her live cover on her Plastic Hearts album, and fans have since had a lot of feelings about her take on the iconic rock track.

The Cranberries reignited the conversation on Tuesday, Feb. 24 while sharing footage from Cyrus' performance, which many fans consider to be the "best cover" of "Zombie"—though others vehemently disagree.
Despite comments on the band's post calling Cyrus version the "Best cover ever?" and several users' "favorite cover" to date, others insisted that the "Flowers" songstress can't be compared to the lead vocalist for The Cranberries, Dolores O'Riordan.
View this post on Instagram"I’m sorry but Dolores is unreachable," one critic wrote in the comments, while another user said Cyrus' version is "not even close" to the original.
"hard pass....only cranberries," another disapproving fan commented.
But others insisted that Cyrus did the song justice.
"She did amazing! Vocals gave me chills for this cover song. Not everyone can embody Dolores!" one impressed fan wrote.
"Not bad!" added another. "Nobody can replicate D's vocals even close though."
O'Riordan, who joined The Cranberries in 1990, tragically died in 2018 from an accidental drowning in a bathtub due to alcohol intoxication. She was 46.
"I think Dolores would be proud of it," one commenter wrote of Cyrus' take on "Zombie," while calling it the "best cover version of this song."
"She fits this songs... perfectly!!?" another user added.
The band also seemed to give their stamp of approval to Cyrus' version by posting the clip of the performance in the first place, which was affectionately captioned, "? Miley ?."
