Disney has officially shed further on the changes in store for the wildly popular Hollywood Studios attraction, Millennium Falcon – Smugglers Run.
According to the company's official park website, Disney will make several key changes to the Star Wars-themed simulator-based attraction starting this coming summer, including updating the ride with a new name and several new scenes.
As Disney hinted on their site, "A New Mission Is Coming Soon."
"Beginning May 22, 2026, join Din Djarin, the mysterious Mandalorian bounty hunter, and his youngling Grogu on an exciting new mission — tracking down elusive ex-Imperial officers throughout the galaxy," the ride's updated description reads.
If that weren't already exciting enough, Disney also confirmed a major new change in the ride's mechanics, stating that all passengers aboard the ship will have the option to pilot the Millennium Falcon to completely new destinations, including several beloved planets from the original Star Wars films.
"For the first time ever, the crew will be in control of their own destination, leading to potential adventures on Bespin, the wreckage of the second Death Star around Endor or the just-announced bustling city-planet, Coruscant," Disney continued.
Additionally, the new change will also allow passengers inhabiting the "engineer" roles aboard the ship to interact with a certain lovable character straight from the Star Wars series, giving fans another reason to hop on board the popular Disney World atttraction.
"A new gameplay addition allows the engineer positions to communicate with Grogu during the mission," Disney teased.
The new changes in store for the cherished Hollywood Studios attraction will coincide with the release of the highly anticipated Mandalorian and Grogu, debuting in theaters the same day as Smugglers Run's official transformation (May 22).
A full-length spinoff of the well-received Mandalorian Disney+ series, Mandalorian and Grogu will feature the titular characters as they embark on an epic adventure to eliminate the last remnants of the evil Galactic Empire.
