’00s Rock Band Holding Free Memorial Concert Honoring Slain Nurse

Dropkick Murphys are set to perform a free acoustic memorial concert in Minneapolis next month to honor the lives of Alex Pretti and Renée Good.

The March 6 performance will take place near the site where Pretti, a 37-year-old VA ICU nurse and Minneapolis resident, was killed. The concert will begin at 1 p.m. and is intended as an afternoon of remembrance and community solidarity.

In addition to Dropkick Murphys’ acoustic set, several local artists are scheduled to perform, including Wild Colonial Bhoys, DJ Jacques, Kiss the Tiger, Sophie Hiroko, Chutes, Laamar, Obi Original and The Shackletons.

Ken Casey, frontman of Dropkick Murphys, said ahead of the event, “We are so proud of how Minnesota stood up and met this moment and we are so sad for the community and for the Pretti and Good families for what they've gone through, so it is an honor to come down and be able to play some music for the people and let them know we stand in solidarity with them.”

The concert will also be livestreamed globally for free at AbolishICE.live, with additional streaming support from Meidas Touch.

Organizers say the event will serve both as a memorial and a fundraiser. Proceeds and donations connected to the concert will benefit organizations assisting families, small businesses and community members in the Twin Cities area.

Local leaders emphasized the healing intent of the gathering.

Anna Schmitz, Executive Director of Whittier Alliance, said, “We're looking forward to having a time for the community to come together to honor Alex's life and show the strength, resilience, and beauty of this neighborhood.”

Jacob Thomas, Communications Director for Common Defense and a Minneapolis resident, added, “Minnesota has endured so much tragedy over these past few months and yet through it all, Minneapolis stood strong, protected our neighbors, and cared for each other. The impact on the community, however, will be long-lasting. This concert provides a space for the community to come together to honor Alex and Renee and to raise needed funds to help.”

Mary Corcoran, Co-Founder of Save America Movement, said the memorial concert is meant to create a space for reflection and unity while raising support for affected families.
