Chicago police were investigating a shooting that left a man critically injured on Tuesday afternoon in the Washington Heights neighborhood, authorities said.
According to police, a 32-year-old man was in a parking lot along South Ashland Avenue near West 94th Street at around 3:30 p.m. when he was approached by a known suspect who fired shots. The victim was struck in the abdomen and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition.
Video captured by NBC Chicago’s Sky 5 helicopter showed police focusing on an area of a parking lot blocked off by crime scene tape.
Chicago police said a handgun was recovered from the scene.
Detectives were investigating.
