Shane Beamer revealed the exact status for offensive tackle Jacarrius Peak, a high-profile transfer from NC State who suffered a lower-body injury earlier this week.
According to the South Carolina head coach, Peak will miss the entirety of spring football and won’t even be fully cleared during the summer. But the payoff to all of that for Peak, according to Beamer’s statement to reporters, is that the Gamecocks “fully anticipate him being ready to roll when September rolls around.”
There was speculation that the 6-foot-4, 298-pound Georgia native could miss a lot of the 2026 regular season because of the injury, but Shane Beamer‘s positive comments on Peak’s status would seem to have soothed a lot of those concerns.

— Chris Clark (@GCChrisClark) February 24, 2026Peak’s arrival from NC State this offseason was a welcome addition for South Carolina, which was expected to use Peak as a starter this fall. He was ranked as one of the top offensive tackles in the transfer portal, right there with Colorado transfer Jordan Seaton, who ended up at SEC rival LSU.
A starter for all 13 of NC State’s games last season, Peak earned an All-ACC Honorable Mention selection. Peak was the ACC’s second-highest ranked pass blocker at left tackle and was recognized for his play with an ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week honor.
During his 4-year run at NC State before heading to Columbia, Peak played in 38 games, starting 32 of them, and now hopes to shake off this lower-body injury and become a significant contributor for the Gamecocks this fall.
South Carolina isn’t currently listed among the teams with the best odds to capture the SEC championship in 2026. Here’s a look at Kalshi’s top 10 heading into this coming season:
