Goulden says he started the club because he wants to see the community center succeed. “It takes a lot of community involvement to get a large project like this off the ground. It’s been kind of great to go from not knowing much about how the town functions to meeting and working with a lot of the people that make the town what it is. Another local institution, the Los Gatos History Club, recently held a ribbon cutting for its “Buy a Brick” program. Residents can commemorate a special event, honor a friend or family member, or memorialize someone dear by purchasing a personalized brick. “Our family bought bricks memorializing my late husband Joseph Melehan and his brother, John Melehan, both raised in Los Gatos since 1950,” Celeste Martin Melehan said. “Having their names in front of the club, which has been there over 125 years, was a fitting location for their recognition.”
