An Illinois Lottery player in suburban Harvard is sitting on a big prize after winning more than $1 million this week.
According to Illinois Lottery officials, the winning ticket was sold in the Feb. 21 evening drawing of the “Lucky Day Lotto” game, with the winner set to collect a cool $1.15 million.
The ticket was purchased at the Chemung Country Store in Harvard, according to officials, and the winner has not yet come forward to claim their prize.
“Our store has been a staple of the community for over 38 years,” said Mark Smith, co-owner of Chemung Country Store. “Our customer base is largely made up of loyal, local customers, so we’re all hoping the winner is one of our regulars.”
The winning ticket matched numbers 2-15-28-31-43, according to a press release.
Smith said the money his store would earn as a bonus would be reinvested into the store and given in part to employees.
Winners have up to one year to claim their prize. They are advised to sign it immediately and to store it in a safe place until they’re ready to claim it, according to lottery officials.
Tickets can be purchased in stores or via the Illinois Lottery app.
