2026 MCCULLAGH INTERNATIONAL

Friday, February 20th – Sunday, February 22nd Sport Ireland National Aquatic Centre, Dublin, Ireland LCM (50m) Meet Central Day 1 Recap/Day 2 Recap Live Results

The third and final day of action of the 2026 McCullagh International unfolded last night from Dublin, with multi-Olympic medalist Duncan Scott wrangling up another victory.

29-year-old Scott of the University of Stirling turned in a time of 1:59.48 to take the men’s 200m IM by a mile, beating the field by nearly 10 seconds en route to grabbing gold.

Scott is the British national record holder in this event, owning a lifetime best of 1:55.28 from when he earned silver at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

At the Paris Games, he was just a hair off that mark, posting 1:55.31 to capture his second consecutive silver medal.

Stirling teammate Jack McMillan wrangled up another piece of hardware himself, producing a time of 3:49.31 for the decisive win in the men’s 400m free.

McMillan touched over 11 seconds ahead of his competitors en route to registering the 3rd-swiftest performance of his career. He’s been as fast as 3:47.28, a time he put up for 14th place last year at the World Championships in Singapore.

Scottish national record holder Keanna MacInnes was another Stirling standout who got the job done, winning the women’s 100m fly handily.

MacInnes stopped the clock at 58.84 for the sole swim of the pack under the 1:00 threshold.

Ellie McCartney was next to the wall in 1:01.16 and Alana Burns-Atkin hit 1:01.79 for the bronze medal.

MacInnes’ career-swiftest performance checks in at 57.67, a benchmark she produced at last year’s World Championships to finish 12th overall.

Finally, 19-year-old World Junior Championships multi-gold medalist John Shortt successfully completed his trifecta of victories in the backstroke discipline.

The Irish teen posted 1:57.24 to reap the top spot in the 200m distance, crushing his competitors by well over 7 seconds.

Shortt is Ireland’s national record in this event, courtesy of the 1:56.19 he scored en route to gold in Otopeni last year.

    Additional Notes

25-year-old Irish Olympian Ellen Walshe was too quick to catch in the women’s 400m free, touching in a time of 4:15.80. That’s a big-time personal best in this ‘off-event’ for the Tempelogue ace, adding the win to the 200m free and 100m back golds she secured on day two. Federico Poggio of Italy was the winner of the men’s 50m breast, turning in a time of 27.77. That held off domestic swimmer Eoin Corby who touched .22 behind in 27.98 for silver and Icelandic swimmer Snorri Einarsson who hit 28.28. The women’s 50m breast saw Kara Hanlon log 31.40 to narrowly defeat Iceland’s Birgit Ingolfsdottir. Ingolfsdottir got to the wall a fingernail behind, settling for silver in 31.41. Eimar Doyle rounded out the podium in 31.75. 28-year-old Tom Fannon registered 22.43 as the winner of the men’s 50m freestyle contest, producing the sole time of the field under the 23-second barrier. We saw a tie in the women’s edition of the 50m freestyle, with Danielle Hill and Grace Davison touching simultaneously in 25.54. Rosalie Phelan bagged the bronze in 26.28.
