The Pakistan Cricket Board is all set to pen a letter to the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) over the possible exclusion of the country’s players by franchises linked with the IPL. This comes after reports suggested that franchises in the tournament linked to the IPL won’t bid for any players from PAK, continuing with the trend that has been witnessed in SA20 and ILT20. The PCB is expected to make a formal request to the ECB over the issue, and are expecting an unfair treatment.
Pakistan want to be part of The Hundred
According to Telecom Asia, the PCB is expected to pen a letter to the ECB expressing concerns over unfair treatment of Pakistan players in the Hundred auction.
“The Pakistan Cricket Board, through Salman Naseer, is due to write to the ECB asking them to ensure Pakistani players are not treated unfairly. Any bias would go against the ECB’s commitment to inclusivity and equal opportunity for Asian players,” the report stated.
63 Pakistan cricketers, including males and females, have registered for The Hundred 2026 auction. Most of the members who are a part of the T20 World Cup 2026 team have thrown their hats into the ring in a bid to find a spot in any of the franchises. A BBC report suggested that four Indian Premier League (IPL)-linked franchises, MI London (Reliance Industries), Manchester Super Giants (RPSG Group), Southern Brave (GMR Group), and Sunrisers Leeds (Sun TV), won’t bid for any Pakistani cricketers.
Before The Hundred sale, ECB executive Richard Gould was asked whether players from Pakistan would be allowed to play in the league after Indian/IPL investment. Gould was adamant that players from any country would not be discriminated against. But that certainty doesn’t look like the case.
“I expect players from all nations to be selected for all teams. We haven’t had any need to have any discussions at this point. We have got very clear anti-discrimination policies within cricket in England. If those are not adhered to, our cricket regulator will take action,” Gould had said last year.
