VICTOR, N.Y. — Local athletes with limb loss and limb differences enjoyed a free adaptive sports field day in Victor. The event, called Everybody Plays Field Day, was organized by Hanger Clinic and Dick’s House of Sports.
Participants had the opportunity to try various sports, including golf and soccer. One athlete expressed interest in trying adaptive sports like rock climbing and sled hockey.
“Just to be able to get out with other people that are like yourself and learn how to do some of these activities is very important. Not only for your mental health, but also for your physical health,” said Paul Selph, an adaptive athlete.
Selph, a below-the-knee amputee, said the chance to enjoy adaptive sports and meet others was invaluable.
