A senior Clemson administrator is leaving the university to accept a promotion elsewhere. Clemson deputy athletic director Kevin White is slated to become the athletic director at Charlotte, according to a report from ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
White held his position at Clemson since 2022. According to his bio, he assisted on “strategic campaigns, facilitated significant student-athlete wellness growth, facility enhancement, athletic success, (and) operational efficiency,” and served “as a connection point for the Board of Trustees.”
White was Clemson’s first black deputy athletic director.

— Pete Thamel (@PeteThamel) February 21, 2026This latest position for White will be a return to the state where he went to college. White graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina before continuing his post-grad education at Georgia State and Kennesaw State.
White is replacing Mike Hill, who was fired in October, 13 months after inking a 4-year extension.
“We deeply appreciate Mike’s service, dedication and contributions, and we wish him the very best in his future endeavors,” Charlotte chancellor Sharon L. Gaber said at the time, via the AP.
The Charlotte football team finished last season with a 1-11 record and 0-8 mark in the American Conference. The Charlotte men’s basketball team is currently 13-13 overall and 7-6 in conference play headed into Saturday’s home matchup vs. in-state rival East Carolina.
