Donald Trump Denies Epstein Ties, Claims He’s ‘Totally Exonerated’

President Donald Trump is once again rejecting any suggestion of wrongdoing related to Jeffrey Epstein, telling reporters this week that he has been “totally exonerated.”

Speaking aboard Air Force One on Thursday, February 19—just hours after Prince Andrew was arrested in the U.K.—Trump was asked whether American associates of Epstein could face similar consequences.

"I'm the expert in a way because I've been totally exonerated. That's very nice. I can actually speak about it very nicely. I think it's a shame. I did nothing," Trump replied matter of factly.

He also described Andrew’s arrest as a “shame,” adding, "It's very sad. I think it's so bad for the royal family. It's very sad. It's a very sad thing. To me, it's a very sad thing."

According to the BBC, Andrew—now known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor since his royal title has been stripped—was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office after allegedly emailing confidential documents to Epstein while serving as a U.K. trade envoy. Police confirmed they are “assessing the information.”

Trump made similar remarks earlier in the week, telling reporters on February 16 he has “nothing to hide,” and that he has “nothing to do with Jeffrey Epstein." He added, "They went in hoping that they'd find it and found just the opposite,” and reiterated, “I've been totally exonerated."

Meanwhile, newly released emails tied to Epstein have resurfaced separate questions about Trump’s mental fitness during his first term. In a December 29, 2017 email to journalist and Trump biographer Michael Wolff, Epstein wrote, “Some at dinner with donald last night, were concerned about dementia. tons of makeup. did not recognize old friends.” The claim has not been independently verified.

The email is not the first time concerns about Trump’s cognitive health have circulated publicly. In a book by former 60 Minutes producer Ira Rosen, Steve Bannon was described as allegedly believing the president showed signs of “early-stage dementia.” Rosen wrote that Bannon claimed Trump “had no attention span, didn’t read, and now doesn’t listen,” though Bannon later denied those allegations.
