Whitney Leavitt is breaking her silence on the controversial comments on her parenting from Nick Viall and Natalie Joy.
Viall and Joy came under fire for comments made in a Dec. 3 episode of "The Viall Files" and were accused of mom-shaming Leavitt.
While discussing Leavitt's upcoming stint as Roxie Hart in the current Broadway production of Chicago, the couple expressed concerns as to how she would juggle being a mom and the demanding Broadway schedule.
"I am curious because, obviously, we had Taylor Frankie Paul being The Bachelorette, and she received a lot of criticism for leaving her children and prioritizing her and her career and finding love. I am curious how Whitney is managing both," Joy said in the episode.
Joy continued, "She just did Dancing With the Stars for three or four months. She has kids on a school level — maybe they are homeschooled. I don’t know. To shift to Chicago in New York, that takes so much of her time. How is she managing being a mom?"
In an interview with The Cut on Thursday, Feb. 19, Leavitt shared her reaction to the comments made on the episode.
“I didn’t listen to the full episode," she said. "I was so confused because I was like, ‘This feels so left field. Is this because I always say no to your podcast?’ Legitimately, that crossed my mind."
She continued, “I didn’t wanna respond because sometimes no response is the best response. But that perspective to me is crazy. I would want my mom, my daughter, any woman, to go fulfill her dreams. It seems like such an obvious thing to me. I don’t need to state the obvious. And honestly, the internet did it for them."
Leavitt's run as Roxie Hart was initially slated to end on March 15, but the SLOMW star will be returning for an additional run from March 23-April 5.
