On the first Fish Friday of 2026, restaurants of all sizes are spotlighting fish and seafood on their menus with some new items and a few deals.

Lent, a time when many Christians abstain from meat, began on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 18. It lasts 40 days, ending on Thursday, April 2. Easter Sunday will be on April 5.

    Here is what some restaurant chains have announced on their websites, in social media or in news releases.

    Cracker Barrel: The spring menu includes fried catfish with tartar sauce and hushpuppies and Smoky Southern Salmon served over rice. A Friday Fish Fry features four hand-battered cod fillets with tartar sauce with biscuits and sides. crackerbarrel.com

    Norms: Featured seafood includes a Fisherman Combo Platter with fried whitefish, breaded shrimp and grilled salmon; blackened or grilled salmon fillet; and wild-caught whitefish.

    Del Taco: Jumbo Shrimp Tacos at two for $6 and Beer Battered Fish Tacos made with wild-caught Alaska pollock will be available through April 14. deltaco.com

    Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers: A Deluxe Crispy Fish Sandwich made with battered Alaska flounder will be available through April 7. freddys.com

    McDonald’s: On Filet-O-Fish Fridays, the sandwich will cost $2.99 through April 2. And app users can get it for $2.50 daily.

    Ono Hawaiian BBQ: An Island Spice Grilled Fish Aloha Plate and an Island White Fish Aloha Plate will be available for $8 through April 3. Both come with macaroni salad. onohawaiianbbq.com

    Popeyes: A limited-time seafood menu includes four new shrimp flavors: garlic parmesan, lemon pepper, ghost pepper and Buffalo;  a Flounder Fish Sandwich, a Butterfly Shrimp Tacklebox with four dry rub choices; and Surf & Turf with shrimp and chicken tenders.
