A Windsor police officer reportedly broke into his ex-girlfriend’s home while she was sleeping, and afterwards called his ex-wife to tell her he was “going to jail and his life was over.”
Timothy Seabra, 33, was arrested Jan. 25 by Johnstown police on charges of second-degree burglary, harassment, false imprisonment and domestic violence, according to Larimer County arrest logs.
He has been placed on paid leave while police conduct an internal investigation, according to a Windsor Police Department spokesperson.
Seabra entered his ex-girlfriend’s home on Jan. 25 while she was asleep, according to Seabra’s arrest affidavit. Police arrived at the apartment around 1:30 p.m., about an hour after the incident, on report of a burglary.
Police spoke with the ex-girlfriend, who said that Seabra entered her apartment by guessing the access code for the door although she had changed it after they broke up, according to the affidavit. While Seabra was in the apartment, she repeatedly told him he was not supposed to be there and she told him to leave.
Seabra then reportedly grabbed his ex-girlfriend’s arm forcefully, though she said it did not hurt her. Seabra then stood at her bedroom door, blocking her escape path, according to the affidavit. When she was able to get through her bedroom door, she attempted to leave through the front door of the apartment but Seabra blocked her there as well.
The ex-girlfriend told Seabra that he was well aware she was trying to leave and Seabra was preventing her from doing so.
Seabra and the ex-girlfriend had been together for about a year and a half, and had broken up about a week prior to the incident. She also provided doorbell camera footage of Seabra walking into the apartment at about 12:20 p.m. and leaving about 10 minutes later. Seabra told police that he left the apartment after his ex-girlfriend’s sister called him and told him he was trespassing.
Johnstown police arrested Seabra later that afternoon, at the Windsor Police Department.
Seabra told Johnstown police that he went to her apartment to get his garage door opener and talk. He also considered himself to still be in a relationship with his ex-girlfriend when he entered the apartment. He said that he allowed his ex-girlfriend to move throughout the apartment freely and there was no physical altercation.
The couple had broken up about a week before after a verbal argument, which led to both of them blocking the other on their phones. Seabra tried to call his ex, after seeing a call for service for his ex-girlfriend’s sister and seeing she was in the hospital. After realizing his ex-girlfriend blocked him, he would call her from a different number, according to the affidavit.
After Seabra left her apartment, he called his ex-wife and told her about entering his ex-girlfriend’s apartment and leaving after being told he was trespassing, according to the affidavit. He told his ex-wife he was “going to jail and his life was over,” which prompted his ex-wife to call Weld County Dispatch to check on his mental well-being.
He is scheduled to appear for a hearing April 2 at the Larimer County Justice Center in Fort Collins for charges of second-degree burglary, harassment and false imprisonment, according to Colorado court records.
