Caleb Williams said a bunch of interesting things during his nearly 69-minute appearance on Maxx Crosby’s podcast.
However, this quote from Crosby has stuck with me for the last 24 hours or so:
“Just to be open and honest, bro, like we talked about earlier, but respect at a different level. You’re one of those guys, for sure, and you’re just getting started. I don’t even know if you understand yet how good you can be, and that’s the scariest part. You know what I mean? Just keep that mindset, keep doing what you’re doing. You know we’re locked in forever. So keep doing your thing, bro. You need me, hit me at any time. It goes vice versa. Keep doing your thing. Keep dominating.”
Hearing one of the NFL’s most respected defenders shower a Chicago Bears quarterback with praise isn’t something I’m accustomed to, so I’m going to enjoy it for what it is and for however long it lasts.
That Maxx Crosby believes that Caleb Williams is just scratching the surface should elate Bears fans — and have fans of the NFL’s 31 other teams worried about what it could look like if and when The Iceman reaches his potential. But also, I can’t shake the feeling that this podcast appearance could be perceived as a message being sent from those two players to their respective teams to get a deal done. A Bears-Raiders trade could allow this partnership to flourish in Chicago while giving Las Vegas the necessary capital to kickstart a much-needed rebuild. This has the potential to be a win-win.

Sylvanie-Imagn ImagesNationally, one of the biggest stories of the NFL offseason will be what happens with Las Vegas Raiders edge defender Maxx Crosby. The five-time Pro Bowler’s time with the Raiders could be coming to an end after the 2025 season ended on a sour note. Trade rumors are already off the rails. So, naturally, we didn’t waste much time before we started kicking around the idea of what it would cost to consummate a trade. There is even one Bears-specific idea that has seemingly gained some traction in NFL circles.
Locally, one of the biggest stories of the Bears’ upcoming offseason is how Chicago’s front office will rebuild a defense that finished in the bottom third of the league in points allowed despite ranking first in interceptions and takeaways. The offense looks like it is in a good place with Head Coach Ben Johnson calling plays for quarterback Caleb Williams and a collection of potent offensive assets. But the defensive line is starving for help in the pass rush department. Hence, Chicago’s football team makes sense as a fit as a possible trade destination for Maxx Crosby should the Raiders decide to trade him.
Of course, it should be stated here that a Crosby trade isn’t something the team has shown any inclination that it wants to do at this point in the offseason. But that Caleb Williams appeared on Maxx Crosby’s podcast to talk ball, life, and everything in between will only further fuel rumors. We will continue monitoring this situation for obvious reasons.
