Whoopi Goldberg Addresses Why She’s Getting ‘Dragged’ for Being in the Epstein Files: ‘I Wasn’t His Friend

Whoopi Goldberg is addressing why her name came up in the Epstein files.

On Tuesday morning, Goldberg appeared in her regular slot on The View and shared that she's been receiving significant criticism for having her name come up in the emails of late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

“In the name of transparency, my name is in the files. Yes!” Goldberg told the audience, sharing that her name is mentioned in a May 2013 email that stated she needed a “plane to get to Monaco” for a charity event, Page Six reported.

In response, Epstein said, “No thanks.”

“This is my point because when I tell you, people are trying to turn me into … I wasn’t his girlfriend, I wasn’t his friend. I was not only too old [for him], but it was at a time where this is just not — you used to have to have facts before you said stuff,” Goldberg continued, posting the email on the jumbo screen behind the co-hosts.

“I can’t speak to him, but I’m speaking about me because I’m getting dragged,” she continued. “People actually believe that I was with him. It’s like honey, come on. Every man that I’ve ever been with, you’ve known about because either the Enquirer wrote about it, people wrote about this stuff. So, no.”

Goldberg had another wild show last week when she almost lost it while discussing the viral drama over Norwegian biathlete Sturla Holm Lægreid‘s cheating confession at the Olympics.

On the Thursday, Feb. 12 episode of The View, the hosts gathered to chat about Lægreid’s confession, which went down during a Tuesday, Feb. 10 press conference at the winter Olympics.

Goldberg, however, noted that she was “confused by all this,” and almost got up and left.

Check out the debate over the confession, which begins around the 22-minute mark below.

    The Cheating Confession

Lægreid confessed to his infidelity during a press conference, saying, “There is someone I wanted to share this with who might not be watching today,” he told NRK, according to a translation provided by E! News, PEOPLE reported. He added that he “met the love of [his] life” six months before.

“Three months ago, I made the biggest mistake of my life and was unfaithful,” he said, noting that he admitted his infidelity “about a week ago.”

The world was shocked by his statement, which came at a time when everyone assumed he’d be discussing the competition.

Lægreid, who won a bronze medal in the men’s 20km biathlon, went on to issue an apology to his ex-girlfriend and his teammate Johan-Olva Botn for his statement, since it overshadowed his teammate’s successful gold medal win. He said he “deeply regret[s]” bringing the incident up “on what was a festive day for Norwegian biathlon.”

“I am not quite myself today, and I am not thinking clearly. My apologies go to Johan-Olav, who deserved all the attention after the gold,” his statement to PEOPLE read. “It also goes to my ex-girlfriend, who involuntarily ended up in the media spotlight. I hope she is doing well.”
