Olympics, Rings, When They’re Back in Chicago, Vanacker and Behm Score, and Other Blackhawks Bullets

Good news, Blackhawks fans! The team has an optional practice this afternoon and a full (except Olympian Teuvo Teräväinen) practice on the ice tomorrow. We’ll see if we get an update on the health of Wyatt Kaiser this afternoon or have to wait for tomorrow.

Kaiser got engaged during the break, which is great news for him on a personal note. He isn’t the only member of the Blackhawks’ blue line to put a ring on it during the break. Alex Vlasic also assumed the position and got a Yes! Congrats to Wyatt and Alex!

Source: Alex Vlasic Instagram Here’s the Olympic schedule for the qualifying round today, starting this morning with two games before most of us wake up: A nice preview of the qualifying round games here from the guys at The Athletic:

    — USA Hockey (@usahockey) February 16, 2026 As a reminder: there are only 12 days between the NHL returning to play and the NHL Trade Deadline, which is at 2 PM CT on Friday, March 6. The buzz around the Blackhawks should only increase as we get closer to that time.

AJ Spellacy was serving the second game of his suspension. Jack Pridham picked up an assist for Kitchener. Marek Vanacker buried his OHL-leading 39th goal of the season for Brantford.

    Around the Hockey World

French Hockey Federation has suspended Pierre Crinon for the rest of the Olympics. Wow!

Crinon, the guy who fought Tom Wilson against Canada, has been banned for the rest of the Olympics by his own national hockey federation. t.co/CmUh34x3mB

    — Arpon Basu (@ArponBasu) February 16, 2026 A couple interesting notes from around the NHL on Monday. The Carolina Hurricanes signed goaltender Brandon Bussi to a three-year extension that has a $1.9M cap hit. The San Jose Sharks placed veteran forward Jeff Skinner on unconditional waivers for purposes of contract termination. No, I don’t think the Blackhawks should inquire. Yes, we’ll see the son of Manny Malhotra drafted early in June. Today’s “wanna feel old?” moment also comes from the OHL, where Patrick Marleau’s son made his debut on Monday against Vanacker and the Brantford Bulldogs.
