LIVIGNO — Huw Nightingale and Charlotte Bankes ended Great Britain’s 100-year quest for a Winter Olympic gold medal by winning the Milan-Cortina 2026 snowboard cross relay.
Britain have previously only won three bronzes in freestyle events on snowboard and skis, but never a medal on snow against the clock.
And the British bid for a medal was almost snuffed out in the quarter-finals, before Bankes ate up a deficit of more than a second on her leg.
But she stormed to the front of the pack to book a place in the semis, and the pair never looked back after that.
