2026 KONAMI OPEN

Saturday, Februay 14th & Sunday, February 15th Tokyo Aquatics Centre LCM (50m) Meet Central Live Results

The 2026 Konami Open is taking place this weekend at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre, site of swimming action at the 2020 Olympic Games.

This is the third of three ‘K’ meets, after the Kosuke Kitajima Cup happened in January and the Kirara Cup concluded earlier this month.

Olympic finalist Mio Narita was among tonight’s winners, with the 19-year-old taking on the women’s 400m IM where she found success in a time of 4:38.02.

That narrowly defeated World University Games medalist Waka Kobori, who turned in a time of 4:38.44 as the runner-up. Reira Yamamoto rounded out the podium in 4:45.41.

Narita is Japan’s #2 performer of all time in this event, owning a lifetime best of 4:33.26 logged at the 2025 World Championshps where the teen tied Australian Jenna Forrester to share the silver medal.

Narita already ranks 4th in the world on the season as a result of the 4:35.66 she scored at September’s Japanese Intercollegiate Championships.

A meet record went down at the hands of Toshinari Yanagisawa en route to winning the men’s 50m breaststroke race.

Yanagisawa registered an effort of 27.13 to reap the top spot, with Hayato Watanabe next to the wall in 27.40 followed by Koshiro Nishio‘s mark of 27.68.

Yanagisawa’s time tonight ties the 27.13 he put up at the aforementioned Kosuke Kitajima Cup to rank 11th in the world at the moment.

Three-time Olympian Rikako Ikee nabbed two gold medals to kick off her Kirara Cup campaign, reaping gold in the women’s 100m fly and 50m free.

The former saw Ikee touch in 58.13 to handily defeat her competitors. Shiho Matsumoto clocked 59.44 and Yua Goto posted 59.48.

Ikee’s outing checks in as a season-best, outperforming the 58.35 logged at December’s Japan Open. She bumps herself up two slots in the season’s world rankings to take over slot #13.

Ikee notched a mark of 25.23 as the 50m freestyle gold medalist, holding a healthy advantage over Yume Kamino‘s time of 25.55 and Ayu Mizuguchi who secured bronze in 25.60.

31-year-old veteran Katsumi Nakamura produced a mark of 22.36 to take the men’s 50m freestyle this evening.

That held off Akira Namba, who touched in 22.51 followed closely by Takashiro Sakai, who rounded out the podium in 22.54.

Another veteran in 35-year-old Satomi Suzuki dove in for the women’s 200m breast.

The Olympic finalist in the event produced a result of 2:25.38 as the victor. That shaved a hair off her previous season-best of 2:25.55 notched at the Japan Open.

On the men’s side, Yu Hanaguruma nabbed gold in 2:08.85 to bump himself up the world rankings on the season.

Entering this competition, Hanaguruma held the 6th-best time in the world at 2:09.23 but his quicker effort here now ranks him 5th in the world and the 4th-best Japanese racer thus far.

Top 5 Japanese Men’s LCM 200 Breaststroke Performers This Season

Shin Ohashi – 2:06.96, November Ippei Watanabe – 2:08.57, January Kosuke Makino – 2:08.69, November Yu Hanaguruma – 2:08.85, February

    Additional Notes

The men’s 400m IM saw Yumeki Kojima get it done for gold in a time of 4:14.71, a time that got him to the wall nearly four seconds ahead of the pack. Yu Hirayama captured silver in a time of 4:18.51, a meet record for 15-year-olds. Just for perspective, Hirayama’s time would render him the 8th-swiftest American 15-16-year-old boy of all time. Tatsuya Makinuchi also landed on the podium in tonight’s race, hitting 4:20.42 for bronze. Olympian Nagisa Ikemoto turned in the sole time of the women’s 200m freestyle field under the 2:00 barrier. The 23-year-old touched in 1:59.71 to hold off Yui Fukuoka and Kobori who notched outings of 2:00.34 and 2:00.48, respectively. Konosuke Yanagimoto topped the men’s edition of the 200m free, hitting 1:48.20 as a narrow victory over Issa Kuroda. Kuroda settled for silver in 1:48.29 and Masaki Kiriyama cleaned up bronze in 1:48.73. Yua Goto was too quick to catch in the men’s 100m butterfly, where he struck gold in 52.29. That narrowly defeated Naoki Mizunuma who captured silver in 52.33. Shinka Seiya was also in the mix, posting 52.67, good enough for bronze.
