When Amy Lee of Evanescence, Spiritbox's Courtney LaPlante, and Poppy surprised everyone with a collaboration in Sept. 2025, few weren't surprised at how brilliantly the women's vocals complemented each other. "End of You" quickly became a favorite among fans, even earning "Song of the Year" from Revolver Magazine.

Four months later, the trio's song sits at No. 1 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Airplay Chart -- the first time three women or women-led acts have earned the top spot. Since the list was created 45 years ago, only a handful of women have even made it to the top of the chart as solo performers.
According to Billboard, the last time it occurred was in 2021, with Nita Strauss' single "Dead Inside," featuring Disturbed's David Draiman. Before that, in 1990, it was Alannah Myles and "Black Velvet."
In the summer, Lee's band, Evanescence, made it to the No. 1 spot for the first time in the band's history with the song "Afterlife," featured on the Netflix series Devil May Cry. Meanwhile, 2025 saw Poppy make it to No. 7 with "The Cost of Giving Up," while LaPlante's band, Spiritbox, peaked at No. 14 with their single, "Perfect Soul."
In a Sept. 2025 NMEinterview, the three discussed how the collaboration came about. According to Poppy, she and producer Jordan Fish came up with the idea of a "dark Moulin Rouge, like 'Lady Marmalade.'" Lee was already working with Fish on another song, and he passed their idea to her, with the suggestion of adding LaPlante.
"It was literally the concept of, 'Let’s just get us all together,' that started the song, which is really fun," Lee said.
"We all have a different shade that we bring to not only the equation, but multiple genres," Poppy added. "It’s our own flavour, colour, and ingredient."
Despite the three claiming that they had no plans to record anything, the song's popularity may change that. But for now, Poppy and Spiritbox will be touring with Evanescence this year, which means that fans will have at least one opportunity to hear them sing "End of You" together.
