The Family Affair star is celebrating the release of her new book, "Romancing With the Stars: Inspiring Hollywood Love Stories," a project that arrives just months after the loss of her husband of nearly five decades, David Travis.

But the theme of lasting love is especially personal for the 80-year-old actress.
Last August, Garver shared the heartbreaking news that Travis had passed away from cancer.

“It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my dear, sweet husband David Travis, who passed away from cancer early in the morning of August 30, 2025,” she wrote at the time.

“When we married nearly 5 decades ago, I worried if he could really be happy with a very public person like myself,” she wrote. “It is true what they say about opposites attracting one another.”

On her website, she said the lyrics to Bette Midler’s “Wind Beneath My Wings” came to mind when she thought of Travis, calling him private, hard-working and endlessly supportive throughout her decades in television, film and voiceover work.
Now, with "Romancing With the Stars" debuting on Valentine’s Day, Garver is inviting readers to reflect on love in all its forms, from classic Hollywood romances to her own deeply personal story.
Fans have already embraced the release. After Garver shared a photo of the page where her own chapter begins, one commenter wrote, “We all know that is a great couple with a wonderful love story.”
