Voters in Colorado’s 4th Congressional District will have a chance to hear directly from several candidates — and ask their own questions — at a Sunday afternoon forum in Loveland.
The event, billed as “CD4 Conversation with Constituents,” will run from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the Chilson Recreation Center, 700 E. Fourth St. Attendees are encouraged to bring nonperishable food items to support local food banks and pantries.
Organized by the group It Just Takes 1, the forum is designed to give residents an opportunity to engage with those seeking to represent them in Congress, while enjoying coffee and cupcakes. Confirmed candidates include John Padora, Trisha Calvarese and Loveland resident Tim Veldhuizen, who is running for the seat unaffiliated.
According to organizer Julie Metcalf, incumbent Rep. Lauren Boebert’s team has not responded to the invitation.
Metcalf said the forum will begin with brief opening remarks and a short “Civics 101” overview of the caucus process, followed by a moderated Q&A. Attendees are welcome to submit questions when they RSVP, and additional questions will be accepted during the event. All questions will be screened by Metcalf’s team and then posed by the moderator.
“The candidates have not seen or will be given any of the questions beforehand,” Metcalf said, adding that all participating candidates agreed to that format
Following the moderated portion, candidates will be invited to deliver closing statements and then mingle with attendees.
Metcalf said she is encouraged by both the number of RSVPs and the range of questions submitted so far, and is hoping for a strong turnout Sunday afternoon.
