RIYADH — The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) has foiled an attempt to smuggle 218,280 pills subject to medical circulation regulations at Al-Batha border crossing, where the shipment was intercepted upon entry into the Kingdom.ZATCA spokesperson Hammoud Al-Harbi said the consignment was declared as “paints” and arrived through Al-Batha port.During customs procedures, the shipment was examined using security technologies and live inspection methods, leading to the discovery of the pills concealed inside the cargo.Al-Harbi stressed that ZATCA continues to strengthen customs oversight across all land, sea and air ports, standing firmly against smuggling attempts in line with its strategy to enhance security and protect society by curbing the entry of prohibited items and harmful substances.He called on the public to contribute to combating smuggling in order to safeguard society and the national economy by reporting through the dedicated security hotline (1910), via email at [email protected], or through the international number (009661910).ZATCA receives reports related to smuggling crimes and violations of the Unified Customs Law in full confidentiality and offers financial rewards to informants when the information provided is verified as accurate.
