Alfonso Ribeiro gave fans a look at his final moments with good friend James Van DerBeek.

In an emotional post shared to Instagram, the actor and comedian revealed how he spent his last moments with the Dawson's Creek actor before his death at the age of 48.

    "This was taken by @vanderkimberly just a few minutes before I said my last goodbye," he wrote in the caption.

    He went on to note that their final few minutes together were spent in laughter, writing, "My last moment was making him laugh one last time. I really miss him already."

    The photo offered fans an intimate glimpse of Ribeiro and Van Der Beek’s close bond, capturing a deeply emotional moment and highlighting the importance of friendship and support during tough times.

    In the shot, the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star holds Van Der Beek’s head as he rests in bed, a cozy hat keeping him warm.

    Van Der Beek, best known for his portrayal of Dawson in the hit '90s WB series opposite Katie Holmes, Michelle Williams and Joshua Jackson, died on Feb. 11 after a battle with colorectal cancer.

    A cause of death has yet to be revealed.

    Sascha Farber commented on Ribeiro's post, writing, "This is a hard one ?❤️" as many others sent prayers and condolences.

    "Thank you for sharing such a special, private moment between brothers. May you feel his presence with you.???????" one fan added, as another expressed, "Within so much sadness, this is such a beautiful picture" and someone else reflected on their "beautiful friendship."

    This is the second tribute Ribeiro has shared following Van Der Beek's untimely death, speaking out the day prior, shortly after the news was announced, as the world went into mourning.

    "I’m so broken right now with the passing of my friend @vanderjames today,” the Dancing with the Stars host wrote at the time, adding, "He was my true friend brother and life guide." The photo accompanying his first post showed Van Der Beek in better health.

    He also reflected on how the actor and his wife of 15 years, Kimberly, changed his life, noting, "I will forever be in debt for all they’ve given me and my family. He will live forever in my heart.”

    Ribeiro turned his attention to Van Der Beek's six children, revealing that he is godfather to 7-year-old Gwendolyn, and promising to "always be there" for the kids and to "hold my role as Gwen's Goodie daddy as one of the most important roles of my life."

    Both Ribeiro and Van Der Beek came up in the '90s TV landscape, though their friendship was truly forged after the latter competed on Dancing With the Stars in 2019.

    The actor was diagnosed with Stage 3 colorectal cancer privately in 2023, before sharing the news with the world in late 2024.

    Many other stars paid tribute to his legacy, including Holmes, Rumer Willis and good friend Stacy Kiebler, who also shed light on the final days she spent with Van Der Beek before his death.
