On Tuesday, agricultural crime investigators arrested a 47-year-old Sacramento man in connection with the theft of beehives worth tens of thousands of dollars, the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

While keeping an eye on the site, investigators saw the suspect return and continue to modify the hives.
Investigators determined the hives had been stolen, the sheriff’s office said, adding that they were “valued in the high tens of thousands of dollars.” The hives were recovered and returned to their owner.
The sheriff’s office said the suspect was arrested on multiple felony charges related to the theft.
