Jason Aldean is looking back at the making of his 2025 single, "How Far Does a Goodbye Go?" and how he knew right away that he wanted to record it for his enxt album.
While sitting down with songwriters Kurt Allison, John Edwards, Tully Kennedy and John Morgan in an intimate new Instagram video, Aldean opened up about the first time he heard the heartbreak anthem, and how it was a "no brainer" to make it the lead single for his upcoming new album, Songs About Us.

"There is definitely something there," Aldean, 48, remembered thinking after the songwriters first presented him with "How Far Does a Goodbye Go?," while Edwards said Aldean's team "got back to me right away" with interest in recording the track for his new album.
Gesturing to the fellow songwriters in the room, Edwards said, "These guys, they're so good at just knowing what Jason does and we just worked the song to fit him and it just came to life."
"It got me excited to go in the studio and cut it," Aldean said, while recalling, "As soon as I heard it, I'm like, 'That's our first single. That's what's gonna launch the album.'"

Since dropping "How Far Does a Goodbye Go?" in September 2025, Aldean has released six more tracks from the album, including "Easier Gone" a duet with his wife, Brittany Aldean.
More songs from the new album that are already available include "Help You Remember," "What's A Little Heartache," "Her Favorite Color," "Hard To Love You" and "Lovin' Me Too Long."
