2026 Washington Metropolitan High School Swimming and Diving Championships
Feb. 6, 2026 Boyds, MD SCY (25 yards) ResultsThe Maryland state high school meet might be later this month, but a good tuneup for prominent high school teams and swimmers took place in the state on Feb. 6, the Washington Metropolitan High School Swimming and Diving Championships.
The Winston Churchill girls and the Georgetown Prep boys won the team titles in a meet that featured several future college swimmers.
Girls’ Recap
The individual standouts of the girls’ meet were Bethesda Chevy Chase senior Virginia Hinds and Stone Ridge freshman Mara Ahearn.
Committed to Georgia, Hinds won the 100 free in a time of 49.57 and the 100 back in 53.26.
Ahearn first won the 200 free in a time of 1:50.80, and then also won the 500 free in a time of 4:54.43.
Ahearn was also a part of Stone Ridge’s winning squad in the 400 free relay.
The team of Harper Rushton (53.14), Ahearn (52.57), Addison Webb (53.19) and Samantha Roemer (50.22) won the event in a time of 3:29.12.
The Winston Churchill team of Ainsley Bell (26.70), Catherine Bu (29.39), Anika Chi (24.67), Gaby Kaiser (23.80) took the 200 medley relay in 1:44.56.
In the 200 free relay, Winston Churchill’s team of Gracie Schur (24.84), Gaby Kaiser (24.05), Alexa Chen (24.80) and Chi (23.57) won in a time of 1:37.26.
Other individual winners were:
Good Counsel senior Celia Watkins, a Georgetown commit, won the 200 IM in a personal best time of 2:02.39. Roemer, a sophomore for Stone Ridge, swam a personal best 22.88 to take the 50 free. Quince Orchard senior Ellie Pantezzi won diving with 411.60 points. Kaiser, who has committed to New York University, won the 100 fly in a personal best time of 55.39. Bu, a senior for Winston Churchill, won the 100 breast in 1:03.61.Girls Team Standings — Top 5

Georgetown Prep was led to the title by the tandem of senior Andrew Vanas and junior Griffin Oehler.
Vanas, a Navy commit, won the 50 free in 20.55 and the 100 free in 45.17.
Oehler, who has committed to Florida, captured the 200 IM in 1:44.11 and the 100 back in 47.15, both personal bests.
The two also had a hand in Georgetown Prep’s two relay wins.
In the 200 medley relay, the squad of Vanas (23.17), Oehler (24.92), Rafa Fontana (22.25), and Johnny Hughes (20.72) won in a time of 1:31.06.
The 200 free relay was won by Georgetown Prep’s quartet of Gabe Hanson (21.19), Hughes (20.72), James Kratz (21.29) and Vanas (19.79) in 1:22.99.
In the 400 free relay, Winston Churchill’s team of Doug Sims (46.42), Jay Cole Devinney (47.18), Charlie Begin (44.61) and Edward Maximus Devinney (45.28) won in a time of 3:03.49.
The other individual event winners were:
Begin, a senior for Winston Churchill and a Penn State commit, won the 200 free in 1:37.37. Bethesda Chevy Chase senior Dylan Imirowicz won diving with 493.00 points. Another Navy commit, Alex Jungbluth from De Matha Catholic, topped the field in the 100 fly with a personal best time of 48.31. Tyler Kominski, a sophomore from Sherwood, swam a personal best 4:24.26 to take the 500 free. Luc Dionne, a Virginia commit from Walter Johnson, won the 100 breast in a personal best 54.44.Boys Team Standings — Top 5
