ROCHESTER, N.Y. — More details have been revealed about this year’s Rochester Lilac Festival. For the first time, the festival in Highland Park will feature a premium food and drink tasting event.
The Lilac Table: A Tasting Collective will take place on Saturday, May 16, the second-to-last day of the festival. Organizers say it will feature Rochester’s “hottest restaurants and craft beverage producers.” The ticketed event will run from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. behind the Lilac Adventure Zone. The space will include tents, lounge areas, a DJ, and a surprise-guest MC as people enjoy their food and drinks. Guests can also use shuttle services and get a welcome drink and a locally curated gift bag.
The partners at the event will include: Angelina’s, Bevy, Carmella’s, El Kapitan, Gio’s at the Inn on Broadway, Good Luck, Palmer’s, Poke Sushi, Strangebird, Ramsey’s at Champion Hills, The Ice Cream Factory, Vern’s, Aldaskeller, Aqua Vitae, Barry’s Brand, Iron Smoke, Mercury Coffee, Leonore’s, Living Roots, Lucky Frog, Martine Kocktails, Rochester Cocktail Revival, Song Hill Winery, Vanni’s, and Off Hours.
The 128th edition of the Lilac Festival kicks off on Friday, May 8. The festival runs for 10 days in a row, filling the park with the fragrant scents of lilacs, live music, food, and games. Last year, the festival drew over 500,000 visitors. The festival all started with a local horticulturist, John Dunbar, planting lilacs in Highland Park and thousands of people showing up to see them. It features the most extensive lilac collection in the northeast.
