GIRARD — A family reportedly escaped a house fire this morning in a home at the corner of Jones Court and West 2nd Street, but the home appeared to be a total loss.
Neighbors at the scene said the family living in the house were able to get out, but a pet cat was missing and presumed to have died in the fire.
Firefighters from Girard, Hubbard, Liberty and Weathersfield battled the blaze.
The house is across from the Italian Fraternal Home.
