A ride share driver and his passenger were sickened after coming in contact with a suspicious package while driving in Logan Square, prompting a hazardous materials incident Monday night.
Officers responded to their 911 call around 9:55 p.m. in the 2200 block of North Monticello Avenue when the driver and the passenger began feeling unwell after picking up a package in the 3600 block of West Palmer Street, Chicago police said.
The fire department’s hazmat team responded to the scene and the package — which was not described — was recovered from the vehicle, officials said.
Fire department spokesperson Larry Merritt said there was no further information on the “substance,” which made them ill.
They were taken to Humboldt Park Health hospital, where they were in fair condition, police said.
