ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A Rochester woman has been sentenced to a year in prison for illegally entering a restricted area at the Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport in 2024.

On Nov. 27, 2024, Takesha Rogers, 40, climbed the perimeter fence of the airport and went into the Aircraft Operations Area, or the tarmac, prosecutors say. They say Rogers willfully entered the secure area despite security measures in place.
Rogers previously pleaded guilty to similar charges in May 2022. She admitted to climbing over a fence and entering the tarmac four times.
She was sentenced to time served and one year of supervised release. In April 2023, Rogers again attempted to bypass security at the airport, leading to a revocation of her supervised release. She was sentenced to one year in prison in Texas in October 2023 and released in July 2024.
When released in July 2024, Rogers disappeared from a bus trip from the prison in Texas to Rochester. News10NBC Chief Investigative Reporter Berkeley Brean spoke to Rogers’ father in 2024, who said the prison should’ve never put her on the bus due to her mental health issues.

Rogers was found by police at the time and was taken to a state hospital outside Dallas for treatment.
