ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A New York animal advocacy group has filed a lawsuit against the Rochester Police Department, alleging animal neglect in the city.
Against All Oddz Animal Alliance submitted several photos as evidence, showing dogs in what appeared to be dangerous living conditions and some that appeared to have been injured. A number of the photos were taken at a home on Sherman Street near Broad Street; the dog owner also is named in the suit.
The lawsuit, filed on Friday, called on the court to mandate that the Rochester Police Department enforce the state’s animal cruelty laws and for any dogs to be humanely removed from the Sherman Street home. It claimed that the city has allowed abusers and dog fighters to operate without consequences.
News10NBC reached out to the City of Rochester, which said it hasn’t been served yet.
This legal action follows several incidents over the weekend where the Rochester Police Department responded to reports of dogs left out in the cold. One dog was found dead.
