Commuters who take the Metra Electric and South Shore lines should expect delays after a train struck a pedestrian on Monday evening.
Metra, in a post on X, said Metra Electric Train #143 was stopped near 63rd Street after a South Shore Line train struck a pedestrian. Train #143 was expected to arrive in University Park at 8:30 p.m.
In an update at 8:21 p.m., Metra said the train had resume and was operating between 40 and 45 minutes behind schedule.
The South Shore Line posted a service update on its website, saying Metra police had halted all train traffic as of 7:55 p.m.
