The Gamecocks were set for a home-and-home with Miami in 2026 and 2027 and Virginia Tech in 2034 and 2035, but neither of those series will happen as originally scheduled.
With the SEC and ACC moving to 9-game schedules in 2026 and the recent College Football Playoff expansion to 12 teams, these moves don’t come as a surprise. South Carolina already plays a consistently tough (though their stock is falling rapidly) Clemson team at the end of the season in the Palmetto Bowl and compete in one of the two toughest conferences in college football. South Carolina isn’t exactly struggling in the big-game department, and matchups against decent ACC competition can only hurt the Gamecocks moving forward.
There are some notable non-conference matchups still on the schedule for South Carolina in coming years. The Gamecocks have a home-and home against North Carolina in 2028 and 2029, as well as 3 upcoming games against G5 horror Appalachian State in 2029, 2033 and 2034. The 2033 matchup is scheduled to be played in Boone, North Carolina.
