Authorities Bag Evidence From Annie Guthrie and Tommaso Cionis House in Consented Search

On day seven of the search for Nancy Guthrie, authorities arrived at the home of her oldest daughter, Annie Guthrie, to look for clues in the case. Annie and her husband, Tommaso Cioni, both live in the home, which is about four miles from Nancy's home in the Tucson, Arizona area.

Prior to her disappearance, authorities say that Nancy took an Uber to her daughter and son-in-law's home for dinner on Saturday, Jan. 31. Later in the evening, Cioni drove Nancy back home, according to the Pima County Sheriff's Department. Authorities believe that Nancy was abducted from her home in the middle of the night.

Journalists who have been covering the case on the ground reported that investigators showed up at Annie and Cioni's house on Saturday night. They stayed for nearly three hours, searching the home and taking pictures, this according to flashes seen inside the home from the street. Upon leaving, the deputies were photographed wearing blue gloves and carrying bags that contained evidence.

According to NBC News, the search of Annie's home was "consented to," which means they did not need to obtain a warrant.

Former CIA and FBI special agent Tracy Walder told People magazine that authorities were carrying "evidence processing tools" in a white case and she confirmed that the brown bag seen being carried by one of the deputies "is for evidence."

Monday, Feb. 9 brings another level of urgency to the case as an unverified ransom note contains a deadline of 5 p.m. for the Guthrie family to pay $6 million to a Bitcoin account. As far as the public is aware, the person or persons behind Nancy's disappearance have not shared any proof of life with the family.
