Donald Trump has decried the Super Bowl halftime performance led by Bad Bunny as “absolutely terrible” and “an affront to the greatness of America”.
The US president lashed out at the Puerto Rican rapper, who recently became the first Latin performer to win the Best Album award at the Grammy Awards, where he took aim at Trump’s hardline immigration policies.
“The Super Bowl Halftime Show is absolutely terrible, one of the worst, EVER! It makes no sense, is an affront to the Greatness of America, and doesn’t represent our standards of Success, Creativity, or Excellence,” Trump said on Truth Social after the halftime show ended.
“Nobody understands a word this guy is saying, and the dancing is disgusting, especially for young children that are watching from throughout the U.S.A., and all over the World,” he added.
He continued: “This ‘Show’ is just a ‘slap in the face’ to our Country, which is setting new standards and records every single day — including the Best Stock Market and 401(k)s in History!
“There is nothing inspirational about this mess of a Halftime Show and watch, it will get great reviews from the Fake News Media, because they haven’t got a clue of what is going on in the REAL WORLD.”

“Before I say thanks to God, I’m gonna say ICE out,” Bad Bunny during his acceptance speech, referring to the acronym for the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency.
“We’re not savage, we’re not animals, we’re not aliens, we’re humans and we are Americans,” the 31-year-old singer, also known as Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio, said.
Last month Trump criticised the headline acts for this year’s Super Bowl – which also included the band Green Day, and said he wouldn’t be attending the game.
“I’m anti-them. I think it’s a terrible choice. All it does is sow hatred. Terrible,” Trump told the New York Post in January.
On Sunday night at the Super Bowl in Santa Clara, California, he shared the stage with a host of celebrities in a performance that celebrated his Puerto Rican heritage.

At various points, he was joined by Ricky Martin and Lady Gaga, who performed a salsa version of her Bruno Mars collaboration Die with a Smile.
Other celebrity guest appearances included actress Jessica Alba, rapper Cardi B, and influencer Alix Earle.r
At one point during the show, the stage transformed into an altar as a couple tied the knot while Bad Bunny performed behind them.
He also scaled powerlines and waved the Puerto Rican flag during his performance of Apagon, an apparent reference to the power outages his homeland suffered during Hurricane Maria.
