If you're not watching for the game or the halftime show, you're probably watching for the ads.
Over the past three decades, the NFL has garnered a reputation for airing eccentric commercials during the Super Bowl. If you want to capture the attention of 100 million people, why not go all out for the worldwide stage? With the countless unique and entertaining commercials to pick from, it is nearly impossible to choose the best, but there are certainly some standouts.
On Friday, FOX Sports ranked the top 10 best Super Bowl commercials of all time, compiling a list of the most unforgettable ads to date. While all of them are recognizable for their virality, one sticks out as the blueprint for what a Super Bowl commercial could be. Ranked ahead of both the iconic 2000 "Whassup!" Budweiser commercial and the 1980 "Hey Kid, Catch!" Coca-Cola ad, Apple's "1984" secured the top spot.

Apple's commercial, which aired during Super Bowl XVIII, was a play on George Orwell's 1949 dystopian novel 1984. Apple took Orwell's vision of a totalitarian, subservient society and used it to break expectations and advertise their new computer.
The commercial stars English athlete and actress Anya Major as she runs from police to smash a television screen broadcasting a "Big Brother" figure to hundreds of entranced subjects. The message of the commercial was to show Apple smashing the presumptions surrounding the year 1984 with their new top-tier technology.
"On January 24, Apple Computer will introduce Macintosh. And you'll see why 1984 won't be like '1984.'"
Directed by the critically acclaimed Ridley Scott, the ad won several major industry awards, including the 1984 Cilo Award and the Grand Prix at the 31st Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival. Advertising Age also named it the "Commercial of the Decade" in the 1980s.
